Excellence in Teaching and Learning

This page highlights key policies and key developments that staff at KJS are currently focused on.

We encourage our staff to embrace the challenge of always being better in our professional practice. We encourage reflective practice and research to ensure our teaching methodology is current and as impactful as is possible for our students.

We have a clear Quality of Education Framework, Curriculum Intent and Subject intents, underpinned by our principles of effective practice.

Currently we are explicitly promoting four areas with our students in their learning.
  1. Golden Knowledge - making clear to our students what the core content to be understood and remembered is in each lesson
  2. Literacy - Highlighting to students when we focus on reading, writing, listening and oracy.
  3. Thinking - Encouraging our students to think creatively and contribute their ideas in lessons.
  4. Independent working - Encouraging focus in students and the resilience to work without teacher talk.
